Guide to Setting Up Your Trezor Device

Step 1: Visit the Trezor Start Page

Begin by navigating to trezor.io/start on your web browser. This is the official page for initializing your Trezor device and will provide you with the necessary steps and resources.

Step 2: Choose Your Device

On the Trezor Start page, you'll see options for different Trezor models. Select your device model, either Trezor One or Trezor Model T. This will direct you to the specific setup instructions for your device.

Step 3: Install Trezor Bridge

Trezor Bridge is software that allows your web browser to communicate with your Trezor device. Download and install Trezor Bridge from the link provided on the setup page. Follow the installation instructions for your operating system (Windows, macOS, or Linux).

Step 4: Connect Your Trezor Device

Using the provided USB cable, connect your Trezor device to your computer. Ensure the device is properly plugged in and powered on.

Step 5: Initialize Your Device

Once connected, the Trezor web interface will prompt you to initialize your device. You have two options: create a new wallet or recover an existing one.

Create a New Wallet:

  • Click on “Create a new wallet.”

  • Confirm your action on the Trezor device by following the on-screen instructions.

Recover an Existing Wallet:

  • Click on “Recover wallet.”

  • Follow the instructions to enter your recovery seed.

Step 6: Secure Your Device with a PIN

To protect your device, set up a PIN. Follow the prompts to choose and confirm a PIN on the Trezor device. This PIN will be required each time you connect your Trezor to your computer.

Step 7: Backup Your Recovery Seed

Your Trezor device will generate a recovery seed, a list of 12 or 24 words, that you must write down and keep in a secure place. This seed is crucial for recovering your wallet if your device is lost or damaged. Confirm the seed on the Trezor device by selecting the words in the correct order.

Step 8: Access the Trezor Wallet Interface

After securing your device and backing up the recovery seed, you can access the Trezor Wallet interface. Go to wallet.trezor.io and follow the on-screen instructions to manage your cryptocurrencies.

Step 9: Update Firmware (if needed)

If prompted, update the firmware of your Trezor device. This ensures you have the latest security features and improvements. Follow the instructions to download and install the firmware update.

Step 10: Add Your Accounts

In the Trezor Wallet interface, you can add different cryptocurrency accounts. Click on “Add account” and select the type of cryptocurrency you want to manage. Follow the prompts to set up each account.

Step 11: Start Using Your Trezor

Your Trezor device is now set up and ready to use. You can send, receive, and manage your cryptocurrencies securely. Always ensure your device is connected and your browser is using Trezor Bridge when accessing your wallet.
